I’ve just received notice that I am now a Giant Squid.

Now in case you don’t know what this means, a Giant Squid is honor  given to lensmasters at Squidoo who combine quality and quantity.  You are nominated; the Head Squids inspect the nominees and give the Giant Squid award to those whom they deem worthy.

Squidoo is a content sharing site. You can create articles — known as lenses. The lenses can contain any number of features including text, pictures, videos, blog feeds, polls,  comments, links and much more.  Lenses have the potential to earn money through paid advertisements and through affiliate links. Lensmasters can opt to donate their earnings to charities or have the cash deposited in their Paypal account.

As a Giant Squid, I receive a certain number of perks, including my own custom templates and a few other things. In return, I am expected to be a good Squidoo citizen, help mentor new webmasters and donate a few of my lens earnings to the charities that Squidoo supports.

I’ve been making Squidoo lenses for a few years now. I usually get some cash from them every month, and I enjoy the community.  Not only that, most of my lenses link back to one of my various web sites, so its a good way to build do-follow backlinks. As you know, building backlinks is great for search engine optimization.

Why not check out my Squidoo  Profile and maybe even make a lens of your own?
